“A Stitch in Time Saves Nine”

Zoey, our oldest, made me promise to help her stitch names onto the stockings she is making for Christmas. This morning she held me to that promise. She was aware enough to realize what she liked doing with her project and what she could ultimately delegate. She doesn’t care for cutting out the pattern and for stitching the names on. This is a lesson I can certainly learn from her, this child. I have a tendency to take on everything because in my head I think it is easier to just do it myself, but then everything actually takes longer and I’m not giving anyone the opportunity to learn/help/feel useful/feel helpful to me. The sewing took all morning, but I listened to a podcast and was able to make Zoey’s job go faster and she truly appreciated my help. It is a simple lesson, true, but most things are simple. Let go, don’t try to control everything, let others help you. Have a happy Saturday/Sabado!
